Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information patenteux (Les Patenteux) collects, why, and how you stay in control. It covers this website, our exchanges with you and the projects we build for our clients. It follows Quebec’s Law 25.
Person in charge of personal information
Joseph Henry Passineau is the person in charge of the protection of personal information at Les Patenteux. You can reach them at [email protected] with any question or request about your information.
Information we collect
When you use the contact form or write to us, we collect your name, your email, your message and, if you wish, your business name.
When you become a client, we also collect:
- contact details of the people we work with at your business;
- the content you give us for your website (text, photos, logo);
- our exchanges about the project;
- the information needed for billing.
We never collect credit card numbers or banking information: payments are made by Interac e-Transfer.
How we use it
We use this information only to:
- answer your request;
- build your project and host your website;
- bill you and meet our legal and tax obligations.
Artificial intelligence tools
We work with artificial intelligence tools, including Claude (Anthropic, United States), to help us design and build websites. A person on our team makes every decision and is the only one who communicates with you.
We keep the personal information shared with these tools to a minimum and, when possible, replace it with identifiers. This information may therefore be processed outside Quebec. We have turned off the use of our conversations for model training.
Cookies and statistics
This website uses no cookies, so there is no consent banner.
We measure traffic with Cloudflare Web Analytics, a tool that produces anonymous visit statistics without cookies and without tracking people from one website to another.
Retention
- A request that does not lead to a project is destroyed no later than 12 months after our last exchange.
- Project information is kept for as long as you are a client, then destroyed securely.
- Billing records are kept for 6 years, as tax laws require.
Security and incidents
The website is hosted in Canada and served over HTTPS, and the form is protected against automated submissions. Access to your information is limited to the people and tools that need it.
We keep a register of confidentiality incidents. If an incident presents a risk of serious injury, we promptly notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and the people concerned.
Sharing with third parties
We do not sell or rent your information. It is shared only with the providers our services need:
- hosting and email (Canada);
- Cloudflare, for anonymous traffic statistics;
- GitHub (United States), where the websites’ source code is kept;
- the artificial intelligence tools described above.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your information, correction or deletion, or withdraw your consent, by writing to the person in charge named above. You can also get a copy of your information in a structured, commonly used technological format.
We answer within 30 days. You can also file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
